About Me

I was born and raised in Tulare County. I spent my childhood and teenage years growing up exploring the country fields of Poplar/Cotton Center. I had the pleasure of attending Pleasant View Elementary School and this rural, small school experience not only allowed me to forge lifelong friendships but also taught me to understand the importance of how all staff, no matter what position they hold, play a pivotal role in a child’s education. After graduating from PVS, I attended Monache High School where I was active in both athletics and choir. I have always had a passion for teaching others and my high school experiences further solidified my career path. I graduated MHS in 2000 and, with high school diploma in hand, eagerly set out to explore life in a big city. I found myself at California State University of Long Beach eager to begin their rigorous teaching program. I treasure my time spent at CSULB. It was an opportunity that I feel blessed to have experienced. However, the thought of raising a family in a big city made me miss my true home in the Central Valley even more. Soon after graduating from CSULB in 2004 with my Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Studies I moved back to Porterville. In January 2005 I was blessed to marry the love of my life, Kristy. Less than a year later, we were blessed with our first of five boys!
I began my teaching career at Terra Bella Elementary School, teaching 3rd-5th grade, and it is here that my love for teaching and education grew exponentially. While teaching during the day I was completing my Teaching Credential, Administrative Credential and Master’s of Education through Chapman University in Visalia. My experience in teaching and additional education led me to the opportunity to work in an Administrative role with Earlimart School District in 2009. I will be forever grateful they took a chance on me! While in Earlimart I served as a Vice Principal, Instructional Data Specialist, and then Director of State and Federal Programs. I completed my Educational Doctorate in Leadership and Management through Capella University in March of 2013. Due to the numerous experiences and trainings I received in Earlimart, I was blessed with yet another new opportunity. I was presented with the chance to help make a difference in the education of my own children's lives and came to work at Burton School District. I served as the Director of Support Services and am now currently the Director of Educational Services: School Resources & Support. I have always loved the staff I work with and the students I serve. My entire educational career has been, and will continue to be, dedicated to the students from the county where I was born, raised, educated and currently reside today.
Some additional info about my family: This January my wife and I celebrate 13 years of marriage. We have 5 boys (12, 10, 7, 6, 5). We love camping at the beach. And our boys LOVE football (although we don’t all agree on who to cheer for)!
